Construction & Contractors
Construction P&Ls live and die on percentage-of-completion math, change orders and retainage. Most US contractors run on QuickBooks plus a folder of Excel files for each active project — until a state DOT job ends and the over/under-billing reconciliation takes two weeks. 4b2b is built around the AIA-style progress-billing model, so each draw is a clean transaction and your work-in-progress schedule reconciles to the general ledger every month.
Where the pain shows up
Pain point
AIA G702/G703 progress billing requires a stored % completion, current period draw, retainage, and change-order log. Doing it in Excel for every active job is a margin sink.
How 4b2b helps
Native AIA-style progress invoicing: schedule of values, current draw, retainage held + released, and a change-order log that updates contract value automatically.
Pain point
1099 subcontractors aren't tracked until January, and W-9s are sometimes missing entirely. The CPA spends a week chasing TINs.
How 4b2b helps
W-9 collection at vendor onboarding, per-payment 1099-NEC tagging, and year-end totals ready by January 1 — exportable to your e-file service.
Pain point
Lien-waiver tracking is paper-based. Subs sometimes get paid before signing, the bond company finds out at the wrong moment.
How 4b2b helps
Conditional and unconditional lien-waiver templates per state, sent by email at draw time, e-signed and attached to the payment record.
Pain point
Project profitability is only knowable at job close. By then the next bid is already wrong.
How 4b2b helps
Per-job WIP report with cost-to-complete, percentage complete, over/under billings and gross-profit-to-date — refreshed nightly.

Questions we hear most
Do you produce AIA-format G702/G703 documents?
Yes. The PDF output matches the AIA Document G702/G703 layout that owners and lenders expect. The schedule of values is editable per draw, retainage is computed automatically, and the running balance ties to your general ledger.
Can it handle WIP (work-in-progress) reporting for my surety?
Yes. The WIP schedule is the standard surety-required format: contract value, change orders, total revised contract, costs to date, % complete, billings to date, over/under billings and gross profit to date.
Will it generate 1099-NEC forms?
It produces per-contractor totals with TINs and addresses formatted for e-filing through Tax1099 or your preferred IRS-authorized service. 4b2b itself is not the e-file submitter.
What about prevailing wage / Davis-Bacon jobs?
Certified-payroll reports are on the roadmap; today, 4b2b tracks labor costs by job and by classification code, and exports to certified-payroll services (LCPtracker, eMars) for the actual WH-347 submission.
