E-commerce — Shopify & WooCommerce

Shopify gives you orders, payouts and a tax engine. It does not give you a clean back office: matching Shopify payouts to Stripe deposits, tracking sales tax across the states where you crossed nexus, or running a single P&L when you operate three stores under one entity. 4b2b plugs into Shopify and WooCommerce via native webhooks (no Zapier) and turns the raw order stream into invoices, sales-tax journals and reconciled payouts.

Where the pain shows up

Pain point

Shopify Tax handles your direct sales. It doesn't handle Amazon, Etsy or marketplace sales where the marketplace collects on your behalf — but you still need to file zero returns in those states.

How 4b2b helps

Multi-source order intake (Shopify + marketplaces) feeds a unified sales-tax ledger that distinguishes seller-collected from marketplace-facilitated revenue, per state.

Pain point

Shopify payouts arrive every 2 days, net of refunds and Shopify Payments fees. The deposit in your bank never matches an invoice or order total.

How 4b2b helps

Each Shopify payout is reconstructed into orders + refunds + fees + chargebacks, posted to accounting and matched to the bank deposit automatically.

Pain point

Running multiple Shopify stores under one LLC means three admins, three tax setups, and a manual consolidation every month.

How 4b2b helps

Multiple stores roll up to one tenant in 4b2b. P&L, tax liability and inventory roll up across stores or drill down per store with one click.

Pain point

WooCommerce stores have no built-in subscription billing for repeat customers. Bolt-ons exist but they don't post clean journals back.

How 4b2b helps

WooCommerce webhooks plug into 4b2b's subscription module — recurring orders, smart card retry and dunning emails — with revenue posted directly to your accounting.

Questions we hear most

Does 4b2b replace TaxJar or Avalara?

It can, for small to mid-size sellers who don't need real-time rooftop-level rates. 4b2b ships state-and-county rate tables that update monthly; if you've crossed economic nexus in 20+ states or sell SKUs with complex sourcing rules, you can also feed 4b2b's ledger from TaxJar or Avalara via their APIs.

How does the Shopify integration handle refunds and partial refunds?

Each refund webhook produces a reversing journal in 4b2b. Partial refunds reduce the line-item revenue and re-compute tax on the reduced amount. Your payout reconciliation reflects refunds as a separate line, not netted into the order.

Can it import historical orders before I switch?

Yes. The Shopify import pulls up to 24 months of historical orders. WooCommerce historical import depends on your store's REST API exposure but typically covers 12 months.

What about Amazon FBA?

Amazon's reports are imported via SP-API. FBA fees, storage fees, returns and marketplace-facilitated tax are reconstructed into clean journals per settlement period.
